Four years ago my son, then a freshman, joined the robotics team. My involvement has increased over time. My main assignment has been fund raising. The past three years I helped with the pancake breakfast. Two years ago, we added a silent auction to this fund raising effort. I became the head of the silent auction. Additionally, I have helped in various capacities from running errands to helping with lunches during work days for the team.

My favorite memory was a match in 2008 “Overdrive”. The robot placed the ball back on the rack at the end of the match. Another robot tried to block us, so that we would be touching the ball, and thus not get the points. As we tried to back up, they continued to push forward. The result was that our robot tipped back. We scored the points and won the match. I found the excitement and support for the team rivaled what could be found at various sporting events. It has been four enjoyable years.
